Is Louisville Dreaming of a White Christmas?

To begin with, if you're hoping for some snowfall on Christmas Day, history really isn't on our side here in the Louisville area. According to the National Weather Service, we have only seen trace amounts of snowfall on Christmas Day about 20-25% of the time during this new century…not very often.

In the year 2009 we saw the record for the most snow on the ground for Christmas here in the tristate.  We had a whopping average of nine inches of snow left over from a brutal winter storm. Be careful what you wish for! The very next year we held on to three inches of snow and we actually enjoyed a real White Christmas.

What will 2020 bring? We all know that it has been among the most challenging years in history around here. Whatever this season and the year 2021 has in store, The Don Embry Body Shop will be here in Louisville at 8272 Dixie Highway to help you if you need any auto body repair. A very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from The Don Embry Body Shop of Louisville.

The year was 1962. In October, America was on the brink of WWIII when the Cuban missile crisis unfolded. Wilt Chamberlain scored 100 points in an NBA game in March. West Side Story was awarded Best Picture at the Academy Awards Ceremony in April. Astronaut Scott Carpenter orbited the Earth THREE times.

It seems like eons ago, and for a business to stay alive and thriving after almost 60 years is quite amazing. Just as a reference point 70% of small businesses cannot survive even 10 years! To be around serving the Louisville area after all this time takes pride, professionalism, and above all, the willingness to grow with the times.

That is why Louisville and the surrounding area still counts on The Don Embry Body Shop as we are about to enter 2021. Yes, they even survived the challenging year of 2020. If you need auto body repair or painting you merely have to call The Don Embry Body Shop at (502) 935-1373 and make an appointment at 8272 Dixie Highway in Louisville.

How a Frame Straightening Machine Does Its Job.

How often do you think frame damage occurs when you have an accident on our Louisville area roads? Would you believe about HALF the time? That’s right…it’s a statistical fact! When the frame of your vehicle gets damaged in an accident or collision, even those that seem innocuous on the surface, you will need the help of a qualified auto body shop.

You may never have seen one but a frame straightening machine contains a platform large enough to hold a car, an SUV or even an average pickup truck. It also consists of two or three upright posts that can be rotated 360-degrees and moved along the platform perimeter to work on different areas of your particular vehicle frame.

Auto body frame straightening in Louisville is one of the specialties of The Don Embry Body Shop. They have been an institution located at 8272 Dixie Highway as we enter 2021 which will be their SIXTIETH year in business! Become more familiar with them by Googling donembrybodyshop.com and always call (502) 935-1373.

Never Ignore Suspension Problems with Your Vehicle.

It’s never a sound idea to postpone getting your car to a Louisville auto body shop for the repair of its vital suspension parts like shocks, struts, and so on. Driving with a damaged suspension is a risk that you should never take! An accident may occur if your suspension parts aren’t in their optimum condition. Suspension ensures both your safety and the comfort while driving a car.

Here are some signs to look for –

1.  You have noticeable changes when you apply the brake.

2.  Do you feel your car leaning when you turn corners?

3.  Does your car appear to look lower to the ground?

4.  Your ride appears to be bumpier than it used to be.

If any of these apply it is time to address suspension repair at the Louisville auto body shop that has specialized in suspension repair for nearly six decades. That is The Don Embry Body Shop. They are located at 8272 Dixie Highway in Louisville. See their full array of services at donembrybodyshop.com. Give them a call for an appointment at (502) 935-1373.

The Remarkable Downdraft Paint Booth.

Imagine sitting in your car and suddenly air comes into a booth through a full-length intake chamber then flows down encompassing your vehicle. Then when air reaches the floor, it is pulled onto floor-level with filtered exhaust plenums on both sides. It may sound like futuristic stuff, but around here it is simply business as usual.

How do paint booths work? It is specifically defined as a spray booth with a power-ventilated structure provided to enclose or accommodate a spraying operation to confine and limit the escape of spray, vapor and residue, and to safely conduct or direct them to an exhaust system. See…safety and guaranteed all at the same time!

A downdraft spray paint booth is just one of tools of our trade at one of Louisville’s most trusted auto body shops…The Don Embry Body Shop located for decades at 8272 Dixie Highway in Louisville. People from miles around come to The Don Embry Body Shop to make their vehicle look like new again. Look us up at donembrybodyshop.com and call us at (502) 935-1373.

Putting the Toothpaste Back in the Tube.

Such is the fate of your vehicle’s airbags after an accident. The airbag of a car cannot be fixed after an accident…you must have it replaced! Manufacturers design modern airbags for a single use. When they were first introduced, mechanics could reset some airbags. Today, however, mechanics must replace the safety devices after each deployment.

Here is some advice from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration –

  1. Replace any used airbags immediately after a crash.
  2. Never, ever try to do it yourself!
  3. Do not drive your car until the replacement is complete.

Here is one important MUST DO…call The Don Embry Body Shop if you live anywhere in the Louisville area. The staff have repaired air bags since they were first introduced. Yep, The Don Embry Body Shop has been repairing collision damage in Louisville since the early 60’s. You can visit their location at 8272 Dixie Highway or call (502) 935-1373.

It’s as Easy as PDR.

Paintless Dent Repair, that is. Despite its growing popularity, many car owners are still not aware of paintless dent repair. This cutting-edge repair technique can often be a more efficient and more cost-effective way to take care of auto body repairs, so it is well worth having at least some basic knowledge of PDR.

You should know that Paintless Dent Repair -

  1. Is more cost-effective than traditional dent repair.
  2. Handles much more than minor dents or dings.
  3. Is often faster.
  4. Is a PERMANENT solution!

How does that sound? Paintless dent Repair is a wonder of modern vehicle repair technology. We do it routinely every day at The Don Embry Body Shop. It may not have existed some 60 years ago when dad founded the place, but it sure does now! We proudly offer PDR at the DEBS…Don Embry Body Shop of Louisville. Call for an appointment (502) 935-1373.

Repairing Unibody Damage.

Unibody damage on your vehicle is typically caused by a major accident and leaves the frame of the car weaker than it originally was. In fact, unibody damage may be partially repaired. It is however, a potential major liability for anyone who owns the vehicle because another accident could result in catastrophe.

A car can look like it has never been in an accident before, and have no visible signs of damage, but the frame could still be compromised. Many people don’t find out about unibody issues until they start having other problems with the car. Does it pull to one side? A great body shop can inspect your car for frame damage.

The message here is that The Don Embry Body Shop is a great place to bring that used car before you decide to make it your own. The Don Embry Body Shop is there for you when it comes to inspecting vehicles for unibody damage in the Louisville area. They are located at 8272 Dixie Highway. Call ahead (502) 935-1373.
