Aluminum and Steele…Two Important Components in our Industry.

Here at The Don Embry Body shop we have evolved with the times for sixty years. That includes the use of aluminum panels and components in vehicles. Auto manufacturers adopted this practice to combat heavy steel parts in the various makes and models. This helps vehicles test for specific emissions classes. It makes them eco-friendlier, with better gas mileage.

We know that aluminum auto body repair is a bit trickier than steel repair. There are many factors that figure into this, but maintaining cleanliness in the repair is the most challenging part. It is a fact that when steel gets embedded into the aluminum, it corrodes, causing potentially irreparable damage.

The Don Embry Body Shop has stayed one of Louisville’s top choices for auto body work for six decades by learning and growing. See how we handle everything from auto body painting to damaged bumpers at Call for an appointment at 8272 Dixie Highway in Louisville (502) 935-1373.

It Pays to Know Your Auto Body Shop.

There are some things in life where “word of mouth” is really important. Not the least of which is whom you choose to fix your vehicle after a collision. May we suggest the auto body repair experts for 60 years at The Don Embry Body Shop of Louisville. Better yet, see some of the words of previously satisfied customers.

That Must Have Left a Dent.

No…what dent? That is what happens when you get paintless dent repair from Louisville auto body repair specialists, The Don Embry Body Shop. Two out of every three drivers are distrustful of auto repair facilities. They base it on factors like overcharging for their work, poor experiences, and unnecessary repairs…not 8272 Dixie Highway in Louisville!

Paintless dent repair is the most cost-effective and quickest way to repair a vehicle dent. Think of it as a minor scratch on your arm compared to a more severe cut or laceration. Traditional auto body repair would be a comparable treatment option to stitches or surgery. PDR would be the treatment option for the more minor injury.

Paintless dent repair is used all the time (when it applies) at Louisville auto body shop, The Don Embry Auto Body. That may have been foreign to our founder almost six decades ago, but not today! Trust The Don Embry Body shop for all of your vehicle repairs in the Louisville area. Just call (502) 935-1373 and see their work before hand at

Suspension is Primary in the Repair Business.

Your vehicle’s suspension system allows you to continue having a smooth ride and works hard to negotiate the often uneven road surfaces around the Louisville area. The suspension is part of the chassis and it is made up of springs, shock absorbers, struts, as well as linkages, bearings and ball joints.

When your suspension needs to be repaired here are some of the factors involved in the cost –

1.  The type of vehicle you are driving…the cost will be higher on luxury cars.

2.  You may require a wheel alignment after replacing suspension parts.

3.  Your good old insurance company.

4.  Where are you taking your vehicle for repair?

To that last point…how about taking it to The Don Embry Body Shop? Not only have they been around Louisville repairing cars since the Studebaker was popular, but they have a state-of-the-art repair rack. Staying on top of technology is what The Don Embry Body Shop is all about! Visit them on the web at and call (502) 935-1373.

The History of Aluminum Welding.

Now there is a riveting (no pun intended) topic to discuss over the dinner table! The average modern vehicle that tools around the greater Louisville area contains more aluminum than ever before. Aluminum is one of 92 metallic elements that have existed since way back when the Earth was formed.

As AlcoTec Wire Corp’s Tony Anderson puts it “There is a change in the culture and in understanding the difference between steel and aluminum…because they are very different as far as welding is concerned. Once you understand the difference, it's very easy to weld it… far easier than steel.”

Over the decades here at The Don Embry Body Shop we have been known for adapting to cutting edge technology. In the future, laser beam welding may become the norm! When you bring your damaged vehicle into The Dom Embry Body Shop located at 8272 Dixie Highway in Louisville, we treat it like our own. Drive in or call ahead at (502) 935-1373.

What is a Paint Spray Booth?

No, it is certainly not found in a tanning salon! You will find it at a quality auto body shop in the Louisville area. What does it do? For one thing, it is the most efficient way of containing over sprayed paint. There is a filtered air supply and an exhaust system during the painting process. Further, the system should be easy to operate.

During the painting cycle, both the suction and exhaust damper remain in their open position. The blower helps in providing fresh air which is pushed through the exhaust duct. At the same time, heating will be off. During the drying process both the exhaust and suction hampers will stay in a closed position.

You don’t need to know all of this. What you DO need to know is that The Don Embry Body Shop has a complete state-of-the-art down draft bake spray booth. It is just another reason why The Don Embry Body Shop continues to be the best in Louisville after nearly six decades. They are located at 8272 Dixie Highway. Just look them up at

PDR is G-O-O-D.

What does that mean? Well, in the world of auto body repair PDR stands for Paintless Dent Repair and it is something we specialize in at The Don Embry Body Shop of Louisville. A dent or scratch on your vehicle is unsightly and reduces the value of it when it comes time to trade it in. No one wants that!

Paintless dent repair is defined by Wikipedia as a method of removing minor dents from the body of a motor vehicle. What you may not know is that a wide range of damage can be repaired using paintless dent repair as long as the paint surface is intact. Paintless dent repair may be used on both aluminum and steel panels.

Here at The Don Embry Body Shop PDR has become a part of the conversation on many of the vehicles we see at 8272 Dixie Highway. If it applies to your vehicle, you can be sure we will apply the process beautifully and permanently. If you need paintless dent repair in Louisville give us a call for an appointment at (502) 935-1373. Take a look at

Aluminum Welding…Nothing New Around Here.

The application of aluminum panels for automotive repairs in Louisville is something we have been practicing for years. Hoods and deck lids have been made with aluminum for years. Why should steel parts be replaced with aluminum? Well, it helps minimize weight levels which can help vehicles become road-worthy again.

Why is aluminum becoming so popular everywhere? The government will never stop putting stricter fuel economy requirements on cars. It is all about weight, so lightweight materials are going to become more and more common. While it can be more complicated to fix, the cost in fuel savings far outweighs the costs of repairs.

Rest assured…aluminum welding is NO challenge for the auto body repair professionals at The Don Embry Body Shop! Even though they have been around since the early 1960’s The Don Embry Body Shop of Louisville has always stayed ahead of the times. Read more about them by visiting and call (502) 935-1373 for an appointment.

We are a City of Many Bridges.

From the Cairo Ohio River Bridge to the Shawneetown Bridge we are indeed a city of many bridges over the mighty Ohio River. Here is a mantra to remember this winter…The Bridge Freezes Before the Road. If you remember BFBR you may drive more safely this winter in the Louisville area.

Perhaps the most dangerous types of road icing in our metropolitan area comes from bridges and overpasses. Here is the reason, you see… a bridge is exposed to air on all of its surfaces - on top, underneath and on its sides. Conversely, a normal road surface is only exposed to air on one side, its top surface.

As you cross a Louisville bridge and you encounter Black Ice please tap your brakes and steer in the direction of your slide. It may avoid a tow to our body shop. If you need us, we have been here for nearly 60 winters. We are The Don Embry Body Shop located at 8272 Dixie Hwy. in Louisville. Visit us on the web at or call (502) 935-1373.
