A great auto body repair shop is proficient at both. Since aluminum is much lighter than steel the
aluminum welds solidify much faster than a steel weld. Aluminum welding is a little trickier, so the
auto body repair expert must treat the metal a little differently because
aluminum has different properties.
One of the pitfalls is that the welder uses the color of the
heated metal to keep track of their progress when working with steel. When it comes to aluminum, it doesn't show
color quite as well, and the molten metal looks silvery but is less obvious. If one is not careful, he can end up with a puddle
of liquid metal dripping away leaving a hole in its wake.
We know that 99% of you out there are not concerned about
the intricacies of aluminum vs. steel welding.
